TIPS FOR PICK YOUR OWN
- When choosing strawberries, look for those that are dry, firm, and have a uniform red color.
- When picking strawberries, grasp the stem just above the berry between the forefinger and the thumbnail and pull with a slight twisting motion. With the stem broken about one-half inch from the berry, allow it to roll into the palm of your hand.
- Carefully place - don't throw - the fruit into your containers. We sell by weight so make sure to bring your own containers or purchase some pails from us. DO NOT USE PLASTIC BAGS as they will turn the berries to mush.
- Mornings are the best time to pick- it is cooler and the supply is usually better.
- Make sure to wear sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
- Always call before coming to the farm since picking conditions vary daily and even hourly depending on the weather and how many pickers come out.
- To keep our fields clean and litter free we do not allow bags, food, drinks etc. out into the strawberry patch. They can be left with the staff and retrieved after picking.
